Veridian website has some newspapers - free - Choose "Projects," then "Newspapers. Link here

Newspapers are now indexed and searchable at the Ancestry website. At the card catalog, type in title line: "Newspapers.com," then keyword "obituary" or "stories and events," "wedding," etc. Hover over a database to see when it was last updated. Choose region, add name, etc., and search.

Sometimes you will get just a snippet and, in order to view fully, a subscription to Newspapers.com may be required, or the "All-Access" Ancestry subscription.

When an article is saved as a jpg from Newspapers.com and uploaded to Ancestry, longer clippings are not shown at full resolution on Ancestry. The thumbnail lets you know that the original image exists on Newspapers.com. But saving as a pdf file, downloading to your computer, then uploading to Ancestry website will bring in details and your article will be readable. Always be sure to edit a story, adding date, location, where found, etc.

If you have a common surname when searching, add a location. Wildcards: A question mark ? replaces a single character in a search. An asterisk * replaces multiple characters. Use quotation marks to keep names together, i.e., first and last.

You can also search directly at Newspapers.com. Use keywords, dates/ranges, locations. Browse newspapers to see what newspapers currently exist in a state or region. Ancestry Academy  tutorials about using Newspapers.com - short videos with tips: Link here

Also use tags at Newspapers.com to sort your clippings. You can add tag for names or type of stories, whatever works best for you. You'll then be able to search your clippings by those tags.

A plus sign indicates that a particular newspaper is available with the "Publishers Extra" subscription. Those are newspapers that are mostly still in copyright, owned by original publishers. They have just licensed them to Newspapers.com to host them. An "All Access" subscription will get you everything. But if you purchased that subscription more than a couple of years ago, it may not include Publishers Extra level subscription of Newspapers.com. So you may want to look into upgrading and getting the newest version of the All-Access subscription.

You can sort your clippings at Newspapers.com by newest or oldest, tag, location, newspaper, etc.
